Murder @ MindSay
For those Mindsayers who care about the persecution of Christians, please pray for your brothers and sisters in the Indian state of Orissa. As you will read, most of the victims are Dalits, formerly known as untouchables. Our friend, who lives in India, sent us this:
“In the aftermath of the murder of a Hindu swami by unknown assailants on August 23, 2008, mobs attacked the Christian community across the eastern state of Orissa. On Monday, a 12-hour strike called by hardliner Hindu nationalist organizations resulted in spreading violence. Media reports and eye witness accounts indicate about a dozen Christians were killed and thousands of Christian properties burnt. See dedicated webpage at: http://indianchristians.in/news/content/view/2332/45/
The Christian leaders across denominations are calling for Christian educational institutions to peacefully protest by closing schools on Friday.
‘Some people have called the violence “Hindu-Christian clashes.” But this is not accurate. Innocent Christians – mostly of Dalit origin – continue to be attacked by communal organizations which are mocking the rule of law. Governance in Orissa state appears to have disintegrated,’ said Dr. Joseph D’souza, President of the All India Christian Council.
- Pray for the government to take strong action in order for peace to be restored.
- Pray for protection over all: Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and others.
- Pray for the Christian community to not retaliate in like manner.
- Pray for physical and spiritual healing and for forgiveness and reconciliation.
- Pray that the name of Jesus would be lifted up in this situation – that all may see HIM.”

WACO — A 13-year-old boy who admitted stabbing a teenage friend to death this summer received a 15-year sentence Monday in a plea agreement.
State District Judge Alan Mayfield accepted the plea agreement after rejecting a 10-year proposal earlier this month.
The youth pleaded "true" to the first-degree murder charge. County officials have said the former Provident Heights Elementary School student is the youngest person in McLennan County ever charged in a murder.
Attorneys met at the Bill Logue Juvenile Justice Center, where the boy, who was 12 at the time of the June 6 stabbing, has been held since his arrest.
Authorities said the boy, whose name is not being released because of his age, stabbed 14-year-old Keith Dancer in the heart with a steak knife during a dispute.
Mayfield told the youth that if he continues to show good behavior, he could be released on parole in three years, the Waco Tribune-Herald reported Monday in its online edition.
His sentence will be carried out at a Texas Youth Commission facility.
The boy's mother, Babette Wilkerson, has said her son was attracted to the older boy and was upset that his feelings were not reciprocated.
Wilkerson said at the time of the murder that her son's father died in May and that the boy has been in and out of counseling all his life.
I was discussing this with a friend yesterday & now can't get it off my mind, & don't really know what to do. Approx 30 years ago, in Oakland California, a man named Herman Hunter was murdered by two men at his little thrift store on the corner or near Hegenberger & Foothill Blvd.
I know who did it, & hope to God it's unsolved, because the thought of someone sitting in prison or dying with a bad name is just unbearable. My stepfathers friend was pistol whipped by Herman, & left for dead. He helped nurse his friend back to health. One day I visited my step father, & mentioned I was going to stop by the thrift store, & he told me to stay away from that place, & would say no more. I did what he told me, & within
a week Herman was shot when opening the door to his store after hours (so he knew them) & was shot by 2 guns of different calibur. One was held by my step father, the other by the friend Herman had beaten. This is not a repressed memory, just something I had forgotten until just recently. When I called the Oakland PD, they wouldn't talk to me about it, & to think someone may die or has died with this crime on their record is just driving me crazy. If I could just talk to someone about this very old case, & hope it's unsolved, I'd surely feel better, because I know the killers, & they are both dead as well. I'd just like to see if they convicted anyone for this crime, because if they did, they have the wrong man. I can only hope it has gone unsolved. I have a brother who is Herman's son, this too should be known by his relatives. Any suggestions, folks? Anything would truly be appreciated. Thank you all so much...
Blessed be, QuellyQ
The Murfreesboro Police Department, TN will host a Criminal Investigative Analysis Course from September 22nd to September 26th 2008. The course will be presented by Wayne Porter of the Alpha Group Center for Crime and Intelligence Analysis Training, and may be used for Certification purposes in the Certificate in Crime and Intelligence Analysis Program offered by the California Department of Justice and the California State University system.
Mr. Porter is an FBI-certified Police fellow profiler who for 11 years profiled serial rape and homicide cases as a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, several of which have been featured on television's A&E's Investigative Reports and Court TV. Currently maintaining his sworn status as a Reserve Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Mr. Porter, who retired with 32 years in Law Enforcement, now consults and instructs on violent Crime topics along with practical applications of Criminal investigative analysis techniques for Law Enforcement organizations throughout North America.
Designed for both investigators and Crime analysts who are responsible for investigating or assisting in the investigation of rape, homicide, and violent Crime cases, this course takes a very practical "learn-by-doing" approach to training that, through lectures and demonstration, provides students with numerous opportunities to walk through the analytical process in the analysis of serial rape and homicide. Participants learn how to analyze Crime scene patterns, recognize the all-important signatures of serial violent crime such as homicide and rape, identify the behavioral, physical, and personality characteristics of offenders who commit these crimes. They'll also be shown how to determine the offender's obsessions and motivations, how to determine if, when, and where offenders may strike again. In addition the course will address the target selection process of offenders, sexual deviants behaviors exhibited by the offender, how female serial killers differ from male serial killers, and how social and environmental factors shape an offender's life.
Each participant will receive a copy of "The Criminal Investigative Analysis Study Guide and Workbook," a manual of over 700 pages of class notes and supplemental reading material, and a CD of "Managing Death Investigations," by Arthur Westveer, Jr., containing over 600 pages of material for the investigation of many types of violent deaths. This is an unique opportunity to become more aware of the investigative analysis process currently preformed by the Police-fellow and F.B.I. profilers. The student will learn the importance of walking in the shoes of both the suspect and the victim.
Tuition for the course is $525 and includes the week of instruction and all related course materials. The course also fulfills the requirements of the Certified Crime and Intelligence Analysts Program and may be used for certification purposes.

Man Accused of Stabbing, Decapitating Seatmate on Greyhound Bus in Canada
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,395313,00.html
PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Manitoba — A traveler aboard a Greyhound bus repeatedly stabbed and then decapitated his seat mate, pausing during the savage attack in central Canada to display the head to passengers who had fled in horror, witnesses and officials said Thursday.
A 40-year-old man was arrested after the grisly slaying late Wednesday night aboard a bus en route from Edmonton, Alberta, to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Steve Colwell told reporters.
Police apprehended the suspect early Thursday as he tried to escape from the bus about three hours after the attack, Colwell said.
Authorities said a motive had not been determined. They declined to identify the suspect or the victim, and provided few details about the attack.
But passenger Garnet Caton said the victim, who appeared to be about 19, was sleeping with headphones on when his seat mate suddenly began stabbing him as the bus traveled a desolate stretch of the TransCanada Highway, a dozen miles from Portage La Prairie.
Caton, sitting just one seat in front of the two men, said he heard no exchanges between them prior to the violence.
"We heard this bloodcurdling scream and turned around, and the guy was standing up, stabbing this guy repeatedly, like 40 or 50 times," Caton said from a hotel in Brandon, Manitoba, where he and other horrified passengers were taken.
Caton said the driver stopped the bus when he became aware of the savagery going on aboard and passengers scrambled off. He said the suspect appeared to be methodically cutting into the victim's body.
"When he was attacking him, he was calm ... like he was at the beach," said Caton. "There was no rage or, or anything. He was just like a robot stabbing the guy."
The bus driver, Caton and a trucker at the scene re-boarded to see what was happening.
Caton said he saw the suspect had the victim on the floor of the bus and "was cutting his head off and pretty much gutting him" with a large hunting knife.
The attacker turned toward them and the three men quickly left the bus, blocking the door as the attacker slashed at them through an opening. The three secured the door to prevent the man from fleeing. Caton said the driver disabled the vehicle after the attacker tried to drive it away.
As the three guarded the door with a crow bar and a hammer, the attacker went back to the body and calmly came to the front of the bus to show off the head.
Fellow passenger Cody Olmstead said the man "dropped the head and went back and started cutting the body." Olmstead said the man later taunted police and dropped the head in front of them.
Greyhound spokeswoman Abby Wambaugh said 37 passengers were aboard, many watching the on-board movie "Zorro" when the violence erupted.
"You're sitting there enjoying your trip and then all of a sudden somebody gets stabbed. I imagine it would be pretty traumatic," Colwell said.
He said the actions of truck driver, bus driver and Caton probably prevented anyone else from being hurt. They "were very brave."
The victim had been on the bus since Edmonton. Caton said the attacker boarded the bus in Brandon, Manitoba, about 80 miles west of Portage La Prairie.
The suspect had been on the bus about an hour and initially did not sit near the victim, Caton said.
"He sat in the front at first, everything was normal," Caton said.
"We went to the next stop and he got off and had a smoke with another young lady there. When he got on the bus again, he came to the back near where I was sitting.
"He put his bags in the overhead compartment. He didn't say a word to anybody. He seemed totally normal," Caton said.
Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day called the attack bizarre, but did not discuss details, saying he did not want to jeopardize the investigation.
