You remember her right? Perhaps not from this angle – but that is the backside of the former teen lead, Marissa, from The OC.  Yes, celebrities too have cellulite, but for some reason after looking at this picture I for once, am happy to not be a celebrity!

But in all seriousness, similar to the Jennifer Love Hewitt’s unflattering photos that caused the media to label her fat – Miss Barton is now fighting a war against the paparazzi and her own body image that is, well, maybe not as flattering when not covered up.

Perhaps the exposure of celebrities body flaws are necessary at a time when “42% of 1st-3rd grade girls want to be thinner.”   Or should celebrities know their limits of what they should and should not bare for all to see?

Re: Mushy Mischa Barton
Dear MS News,

As an avid blogger and devotee to this site, I must bring this to your attention more formally. I remember the days when Mindsay featured their members endeavors, and early days of the news when we discussed politics, science, and things that had a great effect on the users of Mindsay.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am not writing this in harsh criticism. But there is one thing I have noticed about the past news entries from the last couple months. The thing is I believe some of the users, including myself, are taking this as being insulting to our intelligence. I am sure you can see this by simply going through the comments made on the articles contributed. There was a time when members could submit news, but that time seems to have ended abruptly. Which really sucks, because we find some of the odd and most interesting pieces of news out there.

Maybe I am wrong and I am the only person who doesn't care about a celebrities' backside, and if I am, then please ignore this. But if I am right, I hope that you will consider going back to the old way of MS News that allowed the users to be more involved in what we read. As a Web Admin, I know it is bad to give your users a lot of power because then they seem to walk on what you want to do... but as a blogger who has seen this site grow for nearly five years now, I feel it is the communities responsibility to let you know when there is something we are not content with.

As I said, if I am wrong, ignore this. But I really think the news should be more relevant to the communities interests.

Thanks pal.

Re: Mushy Mischa Barton
hey Cas, we hear you ... honestly, have not been seeing many (if any) submissions from users lately though, other than some spammers that want to get us to post their stock tips / gambling site / free ringtones / etc.  Maybe there is something wrong with my Gmail filters, but that's the truth.

Re: Mushy Mischa Barton
Wow I really appreciate your fast answer. That's good to know... it just may be your filters or something else. From what I know, some of my MS friends have been submitting news and disappointed when it doesn't show up.

That's cool if we find the problem though!

I cannot STAND Mischa but I do NOT believe those are here real legs/cellulite.  She's entirely too thin -- trust me, she'd've had lipo before that happened to her.  Those look more like my legs!!  It's Photoshopped.

I feel bad for her.  How embarassing if those are her real legs - she is so young to be battling a typically older problem. At the same time I agree - it is actually good for young girls to see that even celebrities have flaws. Perhaps more images like this will allow young girls to realize bodies are not perfect - we can't control every aspect of how we look.

Re: Mushy Mischa Barton
I feel horrible that people are so willing to exploit and humiliate others because of their more down-to-earth, human qualities.  However, I believe that it is thought provoking for the times that we are living in.  Its a step back into reality, and a badly needed step at that.  I was just visiting the Campaing for Real Beauty site hosted by Dove.  Its heartbreaking to read the stories of girls who try so hard to comply to the airbrushed, computer generated, botoxed, plastic surgery image of today.  Its impossible.  Its heartbreaking because I've been there.  I'm not what you would call thin.  I've struggled with weight loss attempts and failed.  I've been told by directors I work with that I'm too fat for lead roles, because after all, who wants to look at a fat girl dance on stage?  While I'm not thin, I'm not fat either, but I have been made to feel that way and have spent years struggling with downward spiraling selfesteem.  I'm getting ready to be married in August and even now, when my future husband goes out of his way to tell me how beautiful he thinks I am, a part of me just can't believe him and even resents him for his comments.  While I don't condone the exploitation of the poor woman in this photo I do think it is a refreshing change to see a bit of reality among all the fake expectations of our  world today.

I hear you about the "too fat to be a lead" thing. I've been stuck as somebody's mother in the last 11 shows I've been in.
